Greetings Friends
We hope 2015 has started off well for you. We'd like to take this opportunity to do a quick recap of some of our major milestones from April 2014 to March 2015.
First-off, MFV's 17 partner hospitals screened close to 5 lakh people among whom 1,73,255 free surgeries were carried out. |

In recent times, child eye health has increasingly become a focus area for us. This video https://youtu.be/FuynMvd2pV0 captures some heart-warming stories highlighting the efforts of our partners. But more importantly, the children got a precious gift - their childhood. |

In our endeavour to provide quality eye care for all, we have ventured into the North and North-Eastern parts of India. Our partner roster currently stands at 10 and with 21 hospitals across India, we are a small step closer to achieving our mission to eradicate avoidable blindness.
Over the years, our Patient Care Review process has played a vital role in capturing a wide range of socio-economic impacts in the lives of our patients due to the eye surgery. This has prompted us to rename the process 'Community Impact Assessment'. This year too, the findings are truly heartwarming. Across India, our field team's efforts through the year have seen us assess a total of 13,284 patients of the 1,73,255 who underwent cataract surgery. 90% of the patients had good Visual Acuity. World Health Organisation (WHO) guidelines state that 80% of the patients should fall under good visual acuity category with available correction and 90% patients should fall under good category with best correction.
Thanks to years of experience in designing and implementing this erstwhile 'Patient Care Review' process, we are being considered pioneers in this regard. During the last fiscal, we were invited to collaborate with other institutions to help them assess the greater impact of their programmes on the community.
Finally, we make our way through 2015 with plans to expand MFV's programmes on Inclusion, Human Resource Development and penetrating new geographies. That's not all. At MFV, we look forward to working with varied stakeholders to further our cause and gaining the support of as many people we can reach out to. We will do this by strengthening our digital presence through a website that is accessible to the visually impaired, in alignment with our programmes' focus on inclusion and by using social media more effectively. As always, we will continue with our focus on quality care and service delivery - with close monitoring and evaluation of partner progress.
And at the end is the best part - Stories of transformation that fuels us with inspiration to do more. I thank you for your continued support. We wouldn't have reached so far without it. Do write to me with your feedback at elizabeth.kurian@mfvindia.org
Regards,
Elizabeth Kurian
