A few months ago, Purnabai Shantaram Bhoye, a 65-year-old resident of Chinchwad
in Nashik district, Maharashtra, noticed that her vision was getting blurry and unclear. Purnabai, who
makes garlands out of jasmine flowers and sells it in Nashik city, was no longer able to do
her job properly. When she attended an eye camp organised by the MFV-supported Tulsi
Chanrai Eye Hospital (TCEH) in a neighbouring village, she was told she has
cataract in both eyes. With timely surgical help at the hospital her vision has been
restored.
And Purnabai is back to making fragrant jasmine garlands and an economically
productive life.
