MFV has launched Mission Roshni in partnership with Dr Shroff’s Charity Eye and ENT Hospital. This is an ambitious project that would screen 50,000 children from Meerut, Utt‚ar Pradesh. The goal of this programme is to eradicate avoidable blindness amongst children in this region and to enable an inclusive environment for children with low vision and blindness. This is MFV’s first foray into UP and also the first time it is partnering with one of North India’s biggest eye hospitals.

This project will
  • provide comprehensive eyecare to all children under 18 years of age who are found to be suffering from an eye condition.
  • sensitise the education, ICDS (Integrated Child Development Services) and health staff regarding timely identification and referral of children with deficient vision.
  • provide appropriate vision corrective devices to children with severe vision impairment.
  • raise awareness about childhood blindness, promote community ownership and ensure initiatives have a wider impact.
  • develop a methodology for child eye health that can be sustained, replicated and scaled.

Recruitment of the team for this project is complete. Their training and field activities have been initiated. Information, education and communication material is also ready and will be disseminated shortly.
Children looking up at a bright future
