| | | | | Q2 – July-September 2015- Newsletter | | | | | Programme Highlights | | | | | Highlights | | | | - Community Eye Health Project initiated in Kolasib District, Mizoram, with SYNOD Hospital, Aizawl. The project area in Kolasib district has a total population of 83,955 (Rural: 37,077 and Urban: 46,878). The broad strategy is to train ASHA workers who will undertake door to door eye screening to identify individuals with any eye problems. The project aims to perform 500 cataract surgeries during the period August 2015 –April 2016. The goal is to improve the eye health status of the people living in Kolasib district, Mizoram by year 2016.
- Community Eye Health Project was initiated with support from Fullerton India Credit Company Limited through vision centres in Kopergaon, Ahmednagar district of Maharashtra. This project will be implemented by Tulsi Chanrai Eye Hospital, Nashik. Under this initiative, Fullerton India will support the screening of 3800 people, 600 spectacles and 300 eye surgeries in the current year. Eye screening camps will be organized at various locations to mobilize the patients in conjunction with the field teams of Fullerton India.
- Community Impact Assessment (CIA) Process Workshop was held on 9th and 10th July in Mumbai by Dr. GVS Murthy and Dr. Rajan Shukla of Indian Institute of Public Health-Hyderabad (IIPH). The objective of the workshop was to analyze strengths and gaps in the current Community Impact Assessment (CIA) process, discuss the best i.e. robust and cost effective mechanisms to meet the CIA objectives to effectively contribute to the MFV mission statement. A follow up meeting was also conducted in August to review the revised questionnaires and the data collection tools under the stewardship of IIPH.
| | | | | | | | | Community Impact Assessment | | | | During the period July 2015 to September 2015, we surveyed 2459 patients - 46% were male and 54% were female. In this quarter, 90% people has visual acuity in the Good (6/6 – 6/18) category.
